District Benevolence 2008-2009
Brethren, our D.D.G.M, R.W. Bro. Robert A. Forbes, has decided to look at a new Benevolence Program this year. The Dog Guides is a worthy cause and our District was very enthused in helping them, but there are other programs that we need to look at as well. This year we will be raising funds for the Student Nutrition Program in the school districts our 12 Lodges are in. We as Canadians don’t realize that we have 3rd World Conditions in our own communities. How would you feel as a child if you went to bed at night knowing that you would not have anything for breakfast before going to school? Possibly not being able to take a lunch to school either? There are hundreds, possibly a few thousand children who live with this every day right here in our communities. It is a fact that if children don’t get proper nutrition they will not learn as well as children who do get proper nutrition. These children are the future leaders of Canada! How can we not help them? District “B's” goal is to raise as much funds as possible this year to assist in this program. We are looking at collecting Winter Clothing for these kids as well. As in the past you will receive a Tax Receipt for the amount you have donated from the Hamilton Masonic Districts Board of Relief. We are asking the Masons of District “B” to get behind this worthy program with the same enthusiasm that was shown for the Dog Guide program. Fraternally, W. Bro.
